When fuel was still above 2€/l($7.6 usd/gallon) I still drove permanently 130km/h(81mph) and my fuel consumption on the same trips was 6.2/l100km(38mpg) to 6.5l/100km(36mpg). I reduced my km from 35 000km/year(23k miles) to 15 000km/year(9k miles) aka one oil change interval.
