Mafia Definitive edition has the best gameplay which is to be expected with 10 years between them. Mafia 2 had a fantastic soundtrack and even better world with shops, customisation and more to do and see to get that 1950s vibe.
I played all Mafia games last year, and I only really enjoyed the first Mafia (Definitive Edition), but actually really, really enjoyed. Simple gameplay, but great story worth the playthrough. Each one went down hill from there and honestly couldn't get into them like the first. Edit: Just saw, Snag the 1st one on the Feb PS+ freebies!
2/3rds of the way through and have experienced very few bugs, maybe 2-3 warranting a reload in the whole play through, one crash. Most common issue is an occasional frame stutter in cutscenes and occasionally the sound gets stupid loud for no reason but returns to normal in gameplay. If you look. You’ll see better res and draw distances, and some better volumetric lighting. My brother and I played it next to each other the first day (I have a pro, he’s got a day one PS4). You couldn’t tell if you were glancing around lol. It's only higher res but not at 4k.
Smooth gameplay is IMO more important. All of definitive editions on pc have frametime issues, if that doesnt bother you, get them on pc, as they are probably cheaper than on ps5. PC versions with your GTX 1070 for better performance. Also, yes - going w/ PC, you can have choices here w/ Mafia 2 Classic and Definitive, as you have both versions
It comes with the original release of Mafia 2, so just play that instead. When you buy mafia 2 or Mafia: Trilogy on steam, you get the original 2010 version of mafia 2 and the definitive edition remaster that came out 2 years ago. Verify the files in steam, might be that. If its still crashes, its either you have something wrong with your PC.. or the most likely, the game is just a mess, just like it always was. Mafia. And when I hear that there was a mafia game I imminently bought the trilogy pack and expected an amazing ride for the game but it wasn't what had intended as the game didn't feel all that exciting and was a copy and paste of the original so these are my reasons of why Mafia Definitive edition underwhelmed me. 1: The characters.
