My friend who is a mechanic has offered to replace the timing chain, guides & tensioners but I'm not sure what to offer him, normal price is between £1500-2000 which i could never afford, would have to scrap it!

On opening up the passenger side box found a very high tide mark and some water in the box at the time. 2 relays in the base of the box that had been submerged and were corroded.

I'm having the same problem on a 2007 3.0 TDI engine. Fault code is showing up on bank 2. Over the last few months my 2005 A6 C6 3.0 TDi has developed a hot start issue. When it has been on a good run and is nice and warm, it will refuse to fire. It is now happening more than once a week! It will always crank perfectly, for exactly the same amount of time (about 3-4 seconds), and seemingly fast enough as well. But it wont fire at all.
